NOT LETTING AGE DEFINE MY LIFE OR STYLE

Celebration: Wedding Anniversary

For the past 8 days I've had the stink-iest cold ever.  It's been one long round of constantly blowing my nose, coughing and croaking my way through the day.  I've not had enough sleep, not eaten as well as I should and that's left me exhausted and so my blog has suffered.  I've not posted for a week - I didn't want to inflict my 'death warmth up' look upon anyone, especially as my nose was so red it could be seen from outer space - and I had no energy to visit all my favourite blogs.

It's been frustrating, as I know in blogland, it's important to try to be consistent with posting, especially as I have a truck load of outfits I want to photograph!

BUT

Today is a special day.

A day to push myself to make some effort as 7 years ago today, Tall Brown Fox and I said 'I will' to each other.

Every year, I always make a point of re-reading the two readings we chose for our wedding and I thought it'd be a touching way of sharing my joy today, by posting one of the poems.  It was beautifully read by one of my sisters-in-law at our ceremony.

I unashamedly still get a little teary-eyed every time I read it.

The Confirmation by Edwin  Muir

Yes, yours, my love, is the right human face.

I in my mind had waited for this long,

Seeing the false and searching for the true,

Then found you as a traveller finds a place
Of welcome suddenly amid the wrong
Valleys and rocks and twisting roads. But you,
What shall I call you? A fountain in a waste,
A well of water in a country dry,
Or anything that's honest and good, an eye
That makes the whole world seem bright. Your open heart,
Simple with giving, gives the primal deed,
The first good world, the blossom, the blowing seed,
The hearth, the steadfast land, the wandering sea.
Not beautiful or rare in every part.
But like yourself, as they were meant to be.

Our wedding flowers and colours symbolised our two nationalities coming together.

Orange tulips, ivory roses, with peach being a blend of the two.

So no fancy outfits to share with you today, I'm afraid.  They'll be back on the blog soon.  A brief post to acknowledge how much 14th March means to me on so many levels and how blessed I am to be sharing my life with such a special person, who still makes me laugh as much now, as when we first met.

If there is someone in your life who you love, whether partner, parent, child or friend, why not take a moment to say how much you love them.

  2. Lovely, what a great way to remember an important moment. I hope you're feeling better soon, a flu can last such a long time these days. I can relate to your frustration as I had a flu that made me miserable for weeks, and that was the 3rd time in the last 6 months! I feel that I'm so out of shape now, after a few weeks of doing nothing.

Oh, it's so draining, isn't it? I sympathise. 3 in 6 months is tough. And it really does leave you feeling out of shape as well as out of sorts!
